Prenatal Massage
What is Prenatal Massage?
A prenatal massage is very similar to a full body massage experience at a spa. It is tailored to help relieve expecting mothers of the different aches and chronic pains of pregnancy.
Prenatal massage can begin in the first trimester and great care is taken to avoid deep tissue pressure in the lower back and the abdomen during the first three months.
In the second and third trimesters, deeper massage of the lower back is provided, but caution is taken when expecting multiple babies. When carrying a single baby, massage of the abdomen is also included during this time.
Benefits of Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage is great for mothers and helps the baby. As you relax, your baby senses your reduction in stress and other hormones. This relaxes the baby as well. There are many other other benefits to prenatal massage, including:
Reduces Stress
Relieves Joint Pain
Increases Circulation
Stabilizes Hormones
…and much more
Many of these common complaints can be addressed and often relieved through the use of prenatal massage and stretching. A mother’s well-being is the top priority during pregnancy and the use of massage is one of the best ways to relieve stress and get the body back in balance.
Postnatal Massage
After your baby is born, postnatal massage is available as soon as you want to resume treatment. Please be aware that Caesarean Sections (C-Section) must have a doctor’s clearance before you begin care again. Postnatal massage is important in helping to restore the pelvic floor muscles after the delivery stage and helps your body recover from the stresses of birth.
There are no levels of toxins in the body after a massage and there are no problems with nursing your baby afterwards. You are even welcome to bring your baby with you to your appointment and accommodations can be made for your comfort.
