About Me

In January 2011 I graduated from National Massage Therapy Institute with Honors and Valedictorian. During the 8 months of education I soon realized that my interests and skills leaned more toward rehabilitation than “spa and fluff massage” as we called it. I made it a primary goal to learn the muscles as to origin, insertion and actions completely. In 2012 I began taking orthopedic massage seminars. My first one was with Dr. Jeff Cullers with Premier Education. I continued to take every course that suited my goals in orthopedic massage. In 2016 I received an invitation to attend a Trigger Point Therapy seminar that highlighted it was the only 100 percent evidenced based scientific method and the only way to implement trigger point therapy.

I was astounded at the flood of case studies presented by physicians of the damage and life threatening injuries caused by ignorant and improperly trained LMTs. I was so glad not to be one of them! I quickly learned muscles do not respond to “being forced” to relax tension or spasm. They respond to being finessed, like cranky children being given a sweet to cheer up and become pacified. Deep tissue does not mean “deep pressure”.

Little did I know that this was the path that I had yearned to find! This two-day seminar was the door to medical Massage and Trigger Point was just one of the facets. It would also lead me to SOMI and Dr. Ross Turchaninov. From then on I decided that I would reach my goals through education to be a Medical Massage Therapist through SOMI. I immediately made plans to attend my first seminar with Dr. Jeff Cullers at Rizziri School in Voorhees, NJ. Today, I am happy to say I have reached my initial goal! I have learned and still am learning so much more! I have become a Medical Massage Therapist that helps my now “patients” regain mobility, avoid unnecessary surgery, minimize and resolve pain. I can now asses and address myofascial, somatic and periosteal pathologies and help resolve them with science based and evidenced based protocols.
